Is this Sandwich Recipe an Upgrade of the Peanut Butter and Banana?
The Regular Recipe:
- Whole Wheat Bread
- Peanut Butter
- Banana slices
- Honey
My Inspired Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Whole Wheat Bread, toasted
- Almond Paste mix* (Or Almond Butter)
- Sunflower Kernels (and/or other nuts)
- Banana, sliced
- Oxymel**
Directions:
In this order, add the ingredients to the bread:
- Spread the Almond Paste
- Sprinkle the Kernels (It gives it a crunch)
- Add the Banana
- Drizzle the Oxymel
Easy.
*For the Almond Paste:
Mix the Almond Butter and Protein Powder (mixed with water at a paste consistency) Choose the ratio of almond butter to protein powder with water. It’s your sandwich!
I wanted to include this because I wanted to step up the protein content in the recipe. You can use regular Almond butter if you’d like!
**For the Oxymel
This syrup is a recipe used by the Ancient Greeks! To make it, mix two parts honey and one part vinegar. The vinegar seems to make the honey sweeter and stand out more!
If you want to use something else other than honey, go for it! The same goes for vinegar. Try any kind. You can maybe try maple syrup and balsamic vinegar, and there are many more combos out there. Mix and match!
P.S. I think strawberry vinegar exists. I wonder how it would go with honey.
Tell me what you think about it! Is it a cool version of the Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich, or you’re ok with the original? Either way, thank you for trying it out!
